The class 50.35 originated from the class 50, which was fundamentally modernized and constructionally improved ("reconstructed") by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR.
Between 1959 and 1963, the Deutsche Reichsbahn of the GDR modernized a total of 208 class 50 locomotives. Among other things, the locomotives received new, more powerful boilers with a mixed preheater. A class 50.35 locomotive pulled the last scheduled standard gauge steam train in Germany in 1988.
Our locomotive was built in 1944 at the Henschel locomotive factory (Kassel). When it entered service, it was given the number 50 1465. From September 23 to October 28, 1961, it was rebuilt at Raw Stendal as the 50 3690. The locomotive is on loan from the Oberfrankenstiftung (Upper Franconian Foundation).
