Still the same: Marktschorgast station still has buildings dating from the very early days of the South-North Ludwig Railway. Station building, goods shed and water house are listed monuments.
The track layout, however, has changed significantly. The very modest initial compound consisted of simple goods facilities to the right of the tracks. During the expansion of the station in 1892, the goods shed was moved stone by stone and rebuilt again at its present location. To the east of this, a new loading yard was built. This created space for 5 station tracks and 2 pulling tracks for overtaking goods trains.
A maintenance division and signal boxes were also added. These, however, have long disappeared.
From 1945 onwards, when traffic across the Inner German border decreased, the tracks were gradually removed. In 1994, even track 3 became redundant, although it was often used by special trains. Today, there are only 3 points and 2 tracks left for all traffic. From here to Stammbach there is only a single track.
