One of the museum's special features is the functioning and rare segment turntable in front of the roundhouse. Additionally, a narrow-gauge railway with steam and diesel locomotives is always up for a ride (information about operation in annual programme).
The former permanent way inspector's office nowadays houses the archive of the museum. Next to it, the center for museum education (MuPäZ) can be found. Old workshop buildings and a historical forge are part of the ensemble as well.
At the reconstructed coal yard there are all the facilities needed to supply steam locomotives. If visiting locomotives are present, visitors can faithfully witness the supplying of the locomotive with coal, water and grease and the removal of residues.
The DEMAG steam crane from 1927 is a real treasure. It is the only operational crane of its kind in Germany. Demonstration times can be found in our annual programme.
